Dr. Denise Hawley

I've spent my years of education and training chasing one idea: medicine works best when someone has the time to actually know you. Not just your chart. You. So I am building Cave Spring Family Medicine to stay small on purpose. A practice where I can slow down, really listen, and take care of your whole story, not just today's symptom.

I take care of families the old-fashioned way: newborns, growing kids, parents, grandparents, everybody, under one roof, for as long as you'll have me. I am also trained in osteopathic manipulation (OMT), a hands-on approach that helps with everything from frequent headaches to stubborn low back pain and more. You don't have to be my primary care patient to come see me for that (more on this below).

If you're looking for a doctor who has time for you, I'd love to meet your family.

Whole-Family, Whole-Life Care

Care for Every Season of Life

I believe good care follows you through every season of life, not just the convenient ones. That means:

Small patient panel, on purpose, so visits never feel rushed.

Osteopathic Manipulative TREATMENT (OMT)

Gentle, Hands-On Care to Help Your Body Feel & Function Better

Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) uses different hands-on techniques to re-align the body’s structure and reset the tension of surrounding tissues. This increases movement of the joints, improves circulation and lymphatic flow which allows the body to heal itself improving both function and reducing pain. It can help both children and adults with many conditions including:

  • Headaches
  • Ear and sinus issues
  • Sports injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Back, neck, and joint pain
  • Lingering pain or reduced function after fracture or injury
  • Abdominal pain, digestive discomfort, constipation
  • Menstrual pain
  • Non-infectious dysuria (urinary pain without infection)

You don't have to switch doctors to see me for this. If you already have a primary care physician you love, that's wonderful. You're welcome to keep them and simply come to me for OMT alongside your regular care. No pressure, no strings attached.

Chief Resident, Carilion Clinic

She is especially passionate about deprescribing, helping patients simplify medications and prioritize quality of life, as well as advanced care planning that gives families confidence about the future. Outside the office, she enjoys crafting, board games, horseback riding, and singing, so don’t be surprised if she hums while she works.

"I never changed my mind. I always knew I wanted my own practice, where care happens on the patient’s terms, not the clock’s."
